The Word of God reveals His design. Our hearts bear witness to it, even current research backs it up.  However, cultural influences, non-biblical philosophies, and deception exert steady pressure on our thoughts and actions.

We have probably all heard it said that values are “caught,” not “taught.”  However, in our culture, a system of natural nurturing and accountability no longer exists.   The most popular method today of transmitting values, the teacher/audience method, has proven inadequate.  People are most impacted when they see something modeled in another person’s life. Jesus did what He saw the Father doing (Luke 5:30), Paul tells us to follow God’s example because we are His dear children (Ephesians 5:1), then he tells us to imitate him as he imitates Christ (1 Corinthians 4:14-17).  Over and over the Bible describes God’s design for showing us what it looks like to live a life surrendered to God.

There is much at stake in the battle over our home and family. Biblical values that support and strengthen the home and family have been assaulted from every side.  Unwittingly, we have too often conformed to this world; consequently, our young people are not getting a clear understanding of God’s design and purpose for the home.

What God asks each of us to do is simply commit ourselves to living His design for us and then pass it on to our physical and spiritual children.  No matter what circumstance we find ourselves in - married, single, with or without children, employed outside the home, children in public, private or home-schools - God has designed you and given you a purpose as a woman.  His purpose for you is an abundant life.

The church is Christ’s body, and Christ’s body is only as strong as its individual members. The home is where these members are developed.  I believe that the woman has the awesome responsibility and privilege to prepare the home for the establishment of God’s Kingdom in the hearts and minds of each one who enters it.
